Paper diorama - Visual teaching tool

Practical Pedagogical Studies, 2024

This visual teaching aid was originally made as part of my didactic exam, during my practical pedagogical teaching studies. The piece was made to accompany a student assignment that explores the paper-diorama as an illustrative technique.
The teaching aid functions as a large scale paper-diorama with interchangeable layers. The different layers show how elements of a composition changes depending on colour, levels of detail and illustration style.

Polaroid emulsion lift

An emulsion lift, or emulsion transfer, is a process used to remove the photographic emulsion from an instant print; in this case a series of polaroid pictures taken at the Bergen Natural History Museum. The emulsion can then be transferred to another material, such as glass, wood or paper.
I decided to use this technique as part of the illustrations in my written master thesis. The emulsion lifts have a distorted, dreamlike appearance and are therefore the perfect visual element to compliment any longer body of text.

Horrible Griffins

Illustrated series, 2020

The Griffin subtype series; better known as The Horrible Griffin Series, was a project that originally started as a joke after stumbling upon an online post speculating the worst Griffin combination would be.
The idea was simply too much fun and ended up sparking a larger idea for what would become this project.
I wanted to make a series of illustrations that were fun and engaging, but also felt connected to the way Natural history displays used to show illustrations of species and their characteristics.
